Ise Lyfe
Ise Lyfe (pronounced "Ice Life"), born Isaac Patrick-Francis Brown, is a spoken word and hip-hop artist as well as an educator, community organizer, and activist in his native Oakland, California. He is best known for winning the 2001 National Poetry Slam Competition and appearing on Russell Simmons' Def Poetry Jam performing a piece entitled (''Popular Dirt'' ) on HBO.〔(Popular Dirt, HBO’s Def Jam Poetry “Popular Dirt”, 2001 )〕 He appeared in a one-man (show ) based on his book (''Pistols and Prayers'' ), and wrote another one-person show called (''Who's Krazy?'' ). He has also presented a multi-media conceptual art project, (''Brighter than Blight'' )〔(KTVU Channel 2 Interview, ''Brighter Than Blight'', 2013 )〕〔(''38th Notes.com'', Ise Lyfe's “Brighter Than Blight” Tells the East Oakland Story, June 24, 2013 )〕 From 2008 to 2011 he was a member of the (Cultural Affairs Commission ) for the city of Oakland.
